Meet the Fordmore Family - Adam the Chef
We’d like to introduce you to Adam Parfitt, who has been running the very popular café here at Fordmore Farm Shop since May 2022.
What did you do before you came to Fordmore?
I was a chef for over 10 years and learnt my trade at the award winning Hartnoll Hotel in Bolham, near Tiverton, where I worked my way up from a commis chef to junior sous chef. I eventually left to broaden my horizons and took my first sous chef job and head chef job in hotels and restaurants throughout Devon.
What do you enjoy about working here?
I like meeting new people, interacting with customers that visit us and being able to work with a great team here at Fordmore. It’s also great to show our customers what you can create and do with the amazing produce that Devon has to offer and especially that from our own butcher and fishmonger on site.
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m a massive sports fan - I love to watch football and boxing in my spare time. I also have a passion and play a lot of Warhammer (table top wargaming ) one night a week. But most importantly, I like days with my family spending quality time together going out for the day to aquariums and zoos etc.
If you were to recommend one item customers should try from the cafe - what would it be?
I could recommend a lot of things, but one thing I always recommend is our longhorn open steak sandwich served with red onion jam and chimichurri which is very good and very popular!
Tell us something about you that other people don’t know.
I’m a secret Barry Manilow fan and my favourite song is Mandy!
