We are third generation farmers at Fordmore after William and Mary Persey moved here in 1942.
Herbert introduced our first free-range poultry in 1985, and by 1990 we had converted the whole farm to organic. We now rear a herd of Holstein Friesian organic Dairy cows who roam over acres of beautiful Devon pasture, with 39,000 free-range organic chickens. We believe in our animals’ welfare which is why we are organic, and we like our cows to be outside as much as possible. In the harsher weather we bring our cows in and feed them on our own organic silage to ensure they keep in tip-top condition.
As our farm has continued to grow over the years and the demand for great quality food increases, we have decided to open a farm shop so we can share our knowledge, expertise and passion with everyone, enabling Devon locals and visitors to our great county, to experience the best the West Country has to offer in food and drink. Fordmore Farm Shop has an emphasis on great quality, locally grown food that is reared and baked for us, our local suppliers and our on-site butchers. You can rest assured that we don’t sell or recommend anything we would not want to eat ourselves!
Our logo was chosen as it is our family home which has been in the family for 3 generations and is still our main working farm.
We hope that you enjoy visiting us and come back time and time again.
