Meet the Fordmore Family - Matt the Fishmonger

We’d like to introduce you to Matt, who has been our fishmonger at Fordmore Farm Shop and Café since it opened!

What did you do before you came to Fordmore?

I had been a fishmonger for over 12 years, but immediately before joining Fordmore I was working at BMW as a product specialist and sales executive.

What do you enjoy about working here?

I enjoy meeting and chatting with our customers, helping them decide what they should try and also being able to showcase the amazing produce the South West has to offer.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, watching football (my playing days are well behind me) and all types of motorsport... and, of course, spending time with my family.

If you were to recommend one item customers should try from your fish counter - what would it be?

There’s so much to try but one of my personal favourites which delivers great bang for your buck is gurnard. A meaty fish, which has a sweet, shellfish flavour to it. It’s really versatile and can be baked, fried, steamed or poached.
