Meet the Fordmore Family - Laura Jane
Today we’d like to introduce you to someone who is very familiar if you visit our café - it’s Laura Jane Alford, who has been our café supervisor since October 2021.
What did you do before you came to Fordmore?
I worked in retail management for most of my 20s before children which meant I made the move to hospitality management locally working in the evenings. I came to Fordmore when both of my children started school as they offered me great flexibility.
What do you enjoy about working here?
I most enjoy seeing customers old and new. We have some amazing loyal customers and I just love spending my time speaking to people! Customer service is a top priority for me and I love a happy customer!
What do you do in your spare time?
I have a seven and an eight-year-old, so I’m not blessed with ‘spare time’… they keep me very busy with not only clubs, but their social engagements are a full time job! If we have a rare weekend free from sports clubs we love to spend time with family. We are very outdoorsy and you will often find us hiking, cycling or on the water on paddle or bodyboards.
If you were to recommend one item customers should try from the shop - what would it be?
I would have to recommend two items which many people debate over… the open steak sandwich or the fish and chips. Both are amazing examples of the benefits of our onsite shops and set us apart from other restaurants.
Tell us something about you that other people don’t know.
Most people don’t know that I have a very VERY extensive collection of gorgeous shoes from my many years in retail. I just can’t bring myself to get rid of them despite their practicality and how often I get to use them! (If anyone is interested… despite this I do still buy a new pair whenever I have an event to attend.)
