Fordmore celebrates turning 4!
A Devon farm shop and café, which is celebrating its fourth anniversary, has revealed the new businesses which are moving to its site in the coming months.
Fordmore Farm Shop and Café, which is located just outside Cullompton on the Honiton Road, is developing its Newlands Park site to create a destination shopping and dining experience.
It already has an extensively stocked farm shop, with in-house butchery, and busy café, alongside a BBQ School, children’s nursery, animals and play park and it opened a fishmonger on the site at the beginning of August.
It has now revealed the new shops and businesses which are due to open in the coming months. They include a popup Flapjackery shop, selling the delicious range of gluten-free handmade flapjacks created by the Tavistock-based company; a wine shop, a bespoke underwear creator and a gym. Devon Cookery School has also relocated to newly converted premises on the site. In addition to these new businesses, there are offices and units to let, as well as meeting space for hire.
Tom Harradine, co-owner of Fordmore Farm Shop and Café, said: “Reaching our four-year anniversary – which included the various lockdown periods – feels like an incredible achievement. We always felt there was demand for great quality, locally sourced food, so we opened our shop to share our knowledge, expertise and passion with everyone, enabling locals and visitors to experience the best the west country has to offer in food and drink.
“We always felt this was the perfect location to open a farm shop and café and to make use of the redundant farm buildings and we have been very fortunate to have been so well supported by the local community over the last four years.”
Tom added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the new businesses to the site over the next few months, which will help us to provide even more for people living locally and those who travel from further afield to visit our shop and café.”
Tom and James Persey, who run Fordmore Farm Shop and Café together, are third generation farmers. They have a herd of Longhorn cattle which they farm organically and alongside this, source their meat from within 12 miles of the farm shop. They are working to create a carbon neutral business, and to date have planted more than 5,500 trees across our farm and have installed solar panels on their rearing sheds to help reduce their carbon footprint.
